Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s nomination from the Wayanad constituency has sparked controversy, with the BJP accusing the Congress of perpetuating dynastic politics. BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar criticized the move, alleging that the Congress was shamelessly imposing dynasty members on Wayanad voters without transparency.
Chandrasekhar pointed out that Rahul Gandhi’s decision to contest from another constituency after concealing it further exemplified this dynastic trend within the party.
There is shamelessness and there is Cong type of shamelessness – imposing one member after another of their dynasty on voters of Wayanad – after shamelessly hiding the fact that Rahul was contesting from another constituency.
This pattern of betrayal is reason why Cong has seen… https://t.co/W6hKnhKMtA

Responding, Congress leader Pawan Khera defended Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s candidacy by highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s actions in past elections. He cited Modi’s contesting from both Vadodara and Varanasi in 2014 without prior disclosure to voters as a comparable instance of political strategy.
Like @narendramodi ‘shamelessly’ concealed from the voters of Vadodara that he will be contesting from Varanasi too, in 2014? https://t.co/VJhntkmRPR

The BJP continued its criticism, labeling the Congress as a “family company” for prioritizing political legacy over democratic principles. Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala criticized the decision as a betrayal of Wayanad voters and accused the Gandhi family of prioritizing their interests over public welfare.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s potential election to Parliament from Wayanad would mark her debut as a Member of Parliament and the first simultaneous tenure of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Parliament. This move by the Congress has stirred internal dissent in Kerala, particularly among Congress factions and allies.
The Congress in Kerala faces internal factionalism and discontent following Rahul Gandhi’s decision to vacate the Wayanad seat for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Leaders like K Muraleedharan and T N Prathapan expressed dissatisfaction over the candidate selection process, highlighting divisions within the party and its allies.

The BJP sees an opportunity in Kerala’s political landscape amidst anti-incumbency sentiments against the Left coalition government. The state’s shifting voter dynamics and potential alignments with Congress allies like the Kerala Congress (KEC) pose challenges to established political orders.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s candidacy in Wayanad is viewed as a strategic move by the Congress to consolidate its voter base but faces challenges due to existing factionalism and regional dynamics. The BJP aims to capitalize on these divisions to strengthen its position in Kerala politics ahead of upcoming elections.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s entry into electoral politics from Wayanad has not only intensified political tensions but also highlighted broader issues of dynastic politics within the Congress, prompting varied reactions and setting the stage for a contentious electoral battle in Kerala.
