The Supreme Court has directed the NTA to address any negligence, even is minimal, in the NEET-UG 2024 exam.
Litigation should not be hostile and the court has asked for prompt action on petitions about grace marks and question paper leaks. 67 students scoring a perfect 720 has raised doubts of irregularities, leading to the cancellation of grace marks for 1,563 candidates by the Centre and NTA.
The bench told the NTA’s counsel, ‘Representing an agency which is responsible for conducting the examination, you must stand firm. If there is a mistake, yes this is a mistake and this is the action we are going to take’.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) was told by the Supreme Court that even if there is a 0.1 % negligence in the conduct of exam, they should accept it.
The National Testing Agency will re-conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)- UG on June 23.
The decision comes as the committee formed by the Agency informed the Supreme Court that 1,563 students, who were given grace marks, will be given the option to take a re-test on June 23.
The apex court issued notices to Centre, NTA on plea for CBI investigation into allegations of question paper leak, and other irregularities in NEET UG 2024.
Further the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) in Bihar, which is investigating allegations of a Paper leak in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) held on May 5, has said its investigation is suggestive of a paper leak.
Notably, NEET UG result was released on June 4 and since then, the NTA has been dealing with the anger of students. Many pleas have been filed in court. The Supreme Court told the NTA, ‘We expect timely action from you’.

‘You must act fair as an agency which is conducting the examination. If there is a mistake, say yes, this is a mistake, and this is the action we are going to take. At least that inspires confidence in your performance’, Supreme Court tells NTA.
