In a significant cabinet reshuffle, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has redistributed key ministerial responsibilities among his team. Announced by the Governor of Assam on the Chief Minister’s advice, this reshuffle marks a pivotal moment in the State’s governance structure.
CM Himanta will now oversee the Health & Family Welfare and Medical Education & Research departments, in addition to his current responsibilities for Home, Personnel, Public Works, and Indigenous & Tribal Faith and Culture. He will also manage any unallocated departments.
Minister Keshab Mahanta, previously handling Transport, Fisheries, Excise, Science, Technology & Climate Change, and Information Technology, will now assume responsibility for the Transport and Excise departments, asserting his pivotal role in these vital sectors.
This reshuffle follows the resignation of Parimal Suklabaidya from the Council of Ministers, a move acknowledged and accepted by the Governor. The reallocation of portfolios aims to streamline the administration and enhance governance efficiency in Assam.
