Oil and Natural Gas Corporation or ONGC has quashed recent rumours about relocating its Regional Geosciences Lab-RGL from Sivasagar, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to Assam’s economic and social development. The company confirmed that there are no plans to move the current RGL from Sivasagar and stressed the lab’s continued presence in the region.
To support the expanding operational needs of the North East Region, especially Assam, ONGC has established a new state-of-the-art RGL in Jorhat. This facility aims to provide enhanced resources, creating an environment conducive to learning, skill development, and research for students across the Northeast. Additionally, the existing RGL building in Sivasagar has been renovated to offer improved working conditions.
In response to recent allegations and agitation calls by local organisations, ONGC reassured the public of its steadfast dedication to Assam’s economic and social progress. The company asserted internal adjustments are intended to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery, not to undermine local interests.
ONGC remains an integral part of Assam’s socio-economic landscape and is deeply committed to the welfare of the communities it serves. Through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, ONGC continues to invest significantly in various community development projects, including healthcare, education, infrastructure, and skill development.
