In a significant ruling, the Allahabad High Court on Tuesday dismissed a writ petition filed by NEET aspirant Ayushi Patel after it was discovered that she submitted forged documents in her plea. Patel had alleged that the National Testing Agency (NTA) failed to declare her result and claimed that her OMR answer sheet was torn.
A bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan deemed the petition “a really sorry state of affairs,” noting that Patel had included forged and fictitious documents in her submission. The court’s decision came after the NTA revealed its intent to pursue legal action against Patel. The judge stated that the court could not prevent the competent authorities from taking legal action in accordance with the law.
Patel initially claimed that the NTA had informed her that her result would not be declared because her OMR sheet was torn. She made several allegations against the NTA in a video shared on social media and demanded a manual evaluation of her OMR sheet and an inquiry against the NTA. She also requested the court to halt the ongoing admission counseling process during the pendency of her petition.
On June 12, the court directed the NTA to produce Patel’s original documents to verify her claims. The NTA’s submission of the original OMR sheet, which was intact and undamaged, debunked Patel’s assertions. Following this revelation, Patel’s counsel stated that he had nothing further to say and requested permission for Patel to withdraw her petition.
Consequently, the court dismissed the petition as not being pressed, remarking, “This is a really sorry state of affairs that the petitioner filed a petition enclosing forged and fictitious documents. Therefore, this court cannot restrain the competent authorities from taking legal action against the petitioner strictly in accordance with the law.”

In a related development, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shehzad Jai Hind criticized Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for supporting Patel. The BJP spokesperson questioned whether Vadra should be held accountable for amplifying the aspirant’s false claims, urging the media to scrutinize her actions.
