Anurag Yadav, a NEET candidate, has confessed to using a leaked question paper for his exam. The 22-year-old admitted in a letter from India Today that the leaked paper he received matched the actual exam paper. Yadav, the nephew of an engineer working at Danapur Town Council, said his uncle, Sikandar Prasad Yadavendu, assured him that all arrangements for the exam were made.
In his confession letter, which included his signature, Yadav revealed that he was given both the leaked question paper and the answers before the exam. When he took the exam, he found that the official question paper was identical to the leaked one he had received.
The confession came shortly after India Today accessed another note from Yadavendu and some documents implicating a political figure referred to as ‘Mantri Ji’. This figure allegedly arranged for Yadav, his mother, and other associates to stay at a government bungalow in Patna.
Responding to these revelations, the Union Education Ministry has asked for a detailed report from the Bihar Police’s Economic Offences Unit. The ministry is looking into the alleged irregularities in the NEET exam held in Patna. A senior official emphasized that the government is committed to maintaining the integrity of exams and protecting student interests. The ministry warned that anyone found involved in the scandal would face severe consequences.

The results, initially expected on June 14, were released earlier on June 4 after the answer sheets were evaluated faster than anticipated. Allegations of question paper leaks and other irregularities have sparked protests and led to petitions in various high courts and the Supreme Court.
The Education Ministry reiterated its dedication to ensuring the sanctity of examinations. They stressed that any individual or organization involved in compromising the exam’s integrity would be subject to strict actions. The government aims to take appropriate measures based on the report from the Economic Offences Unit to address and resolve the issue.
