Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced significant decisions aimed at enhancing grassroots governance, streamlining GST consultations, and promoting youth sports. These announcements followed a Cabinet meeting where several crucial measures were discussed and approved.
CM Himanta highlighted the Cabinet’s commitment to strengthening local governance structures and engaging the trading community to streamline the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Besides, the Cabinet approved substantial financial support for youth clubs and sports associations across the State. “We will offer Rs 15 lakh to every youth club and sports association to promote sports,” stated the CM.
From this amount, Rs 10 lakh will be allocated for necessary sporting equipment as per the requirements identified by local committees, which will be headed by the District Commissioner and provided by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department.
In addition, a delegation from Tata Consumer Products met with CM Himanta to discuss initiatives aimed at bolstering the Assam tea industry. “We had a productive discussion to ensure optimal pricing and enhanced branding of Assam Tea,” he said. “We are working to improve the global outreach of Assam Tea while providing the best facilities to our tea garden community,” the CM added.
These initiatives reflect the Assam Cabinet’s strategic approach to improving governance, economic development, and youth engagement in the State.
