In the early hours of Saturday, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) and the Mangalagiri Tadepalli Municipal Corporation (MTMC) demolished an under-construction office building of the Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP). The demolition took place on land allegedly occupied illegally, measuring 870.40 square meters in Seethanagaram’s boat yard compound, located in the Tadepalli Mandal of Guntur district.
YSRCP has reacted to the demolition, calling it an act of “vendetta politics.” They accused the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of targeting them for political reasons.

On Friday, YSRCP Guntur district president M Seshagiri Rao filed a writ petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The petition requested that the State government, CRDA, and MTMC be ordered not to take any action against the building until the hearing was completed. The YSRCP argued that the preliminary actions taken by the CRDA were illegal, arbitrary, and unconstitutional, and violated principles of natural justice.
According to YSRCP, the demolition began around 5:30 am, using excavators and bulldozers. The building was reportedly ready for a slab before it was demolished. YSRCP’s statement emphasized that this was the first instance of a party office being demolished in the state’s history. They also highlighted that the CRDA’s actions might amount to contempt of court, given the High Court’s order to halt the demolition.

The demolition of the YSRCP office has heightened political tensions in Andhra Pradesh. The YSRCP’s accusations of vendetta politics and contempt of court are likely to lead to further legal and political battles. The situation highlights the intense rivalry between the YSRCP and the TDP, and the potential implications for governance.
