At least 39 people were killed in the recent Israeli air strikes in northern Gaza on Saturday. Fadel Naem, director of the al-Ahli Hospital said that over three dozen bodies arrived at the hospital.
The Palestinian Civil Defence, an emergency group active in Gaza, said that it pulled approximately the same number of bodies from a building hit by an Israeli strike in an eastern neighbourhood of Gaza City.
It added that its emergency workers were also digging for survivors at the site of another strike in the Shati refugee camp. The recent strike comes a day after air strikes on tent camps killed 25 people and wounded some 50 in Rafah.
On Saturday Israel said its fighter jets struck two Hamas military sites in the Gaza City. However, no further information was made available. It added that it will continue to operate in central and southern Gaza with going ahead for its invasion of Rafah.
Israeli strike on the same day, in Lebanon’s eastern Bekaa Valley a member of the military wing of al-Jamaa al-Islamiya, or the Islamic group, a Sunni Muslim faction closely allied with Hamas, was killed according to the group.
According to the media reports, the member was the seventh killed by Israeli strikes in Lebanon since the war started.
