In a troubling turn of events, a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team was reportedly attacked by locals in the Nawada district of Bihar. The incident occurred when the team visited Kasiadeeh village to investigate alleged irregularities related to the June 18 UGC-NET examination. According to officials, a mob surrounded the CBI vehicles and harassed the officers present.
The UGC-NET exam, which saw participation from over 9 lakh candidates across 317 cities, was abruptly canceled just a day after it took place. This decision came after concerns were raised by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs about potential compromises in the exam’s integrity. Following this development, the CBI was tasked by the education ministry to probe the matter.
The attack on the CBI team occurred on Saturday evening and resulted in an FIR being filed against the accused by the Rajauli police. Subsequently, four individuals suspected of involvement in the attack were apprehended and have since been placed in judicial custody, as confirmed by officials.
