An infiltrator was killed by security forces near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Baramulla district, according to army officials. This incident is part of an ongoing anti-infiltration operation named “Operation Bajrang”.
The operation was launched based on specific intelligence reports about a terror group attempting to sneak into the valley near Basgrain village on the LoC. The Indian Army challenged the infiltrating group, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
The operation continued throughout the night and included multiple searches in the forested area. At around 11.30 am, the army confirmed the death of one terrorist in the ongoing operation. The Chinar Corps, part of the Indian Army, shared this update on the social media platform ‘X’.
This marks the third encounter between security forces and militants in north Kashmir since Monday. In these encounters, three militants from the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group were killed, and two soldiers were injured.
On Monday, a top local commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba was killed in an operation in Aragam, Bandipora. Two days later, two Pakistani militants from the same group were killed in Hudipora, Sopore village, during another gunfight that resulted in injuries to two soldiers.

In April, two infiltrators were killed near Rustam post in Uri. The army accused Pakistani forces of providing cover fire to these infiltrators. This was the first infiltration attempt of the year, successfully averted by alert security forces. In November of the previous year, a similar infiltration bid was foiled in the Uri sector, resulting in the neutralization of two terrorists.
The Indian Army continues to remain vigilant along the LoC, preventing multiple infiltration attempts and ensuring the safety and security of the region. The ongoing “Operation Bajrang” underscores the relentless efforts of the security forces to thwart any threats posed by militant groups.
