On Tuesday, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar met with journalists from 10 Eurasian countries who were on an immersion visit to India. The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the long-standing ties between India and these countries, as well as the significant transformations occurring in India over the past decade. Jaishankar expressed his appreciation for the journalists’ interest in fostering greater exchanges with India.
EAM shared this update on his official X handle, noting his delight in the discussions and the journalists’ curiosity about India’s prospects for the Global South.

Earlier in the day, Jaishankar had a series of meetings with ambassadors from Kuwait, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand.
Jaishankar welcomed Kuwaiti Ambassador Meshal Mustafa Jasim Alshemali. They discussed the strong bilateral relations between India and Kuwait, focusing on the interests of the Indian community and the welfare of Indian workers in Kuwait. Jaishankar wished Ambassador Alshemali a successful tenure and highlighted the importance of their ongoing collaboration.
Jaishankar also met with Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner Kshenuka D. Senewiratne. Their discussion revolved around recent developments in bilateral relations, including Jaishankar’s recent visit to Colombo. He conveyed his best wishes for her successful tenure and emphasized the importance of the continued partnership between India and Sri Lanka.

New Zealand High Commissioner Patrick John Rata was also received by Jaishankar at the Ministry of External Affairs. They discussed the multifaceted relationship between India and New Zealand, exploring various possibilities for future cooperation. Jaishankar extended his best wishes for the High Commissioner’s tenure and expressed optimism about strengthening ties between the two nations.

In addition to the in-person meetings, Jaishankar held a phone conversation with Panama’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Janaina Tewaney Mencomo. He thanked her for Panama’s consistent support of the India-Panama relationship and affirmed his commitment to maintaining close contact.

Meeting with the Chinese Ambassador: Later in the evening, Jaishankar met with China’s Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong. Their discussion focused on the bilateral relationship between India and China and the mutual interest in stabilizing and progressing their ties. Jaishankar wished Ambassador Xu a successful tenure and underscored the importance of their diplomatic engagement.
