India has strongly criticized Pakistan for spreading what it termed as “baseless and deceitful narratives” regarding Kashmir during a session at the United Nations General Assembly.
Pratik Mathur, speaking on behalf of India’s Permanent Mission to the UN, rebuked Pakistan’s envoy Munir Akram for misusing the platform with unsubstantiated claims about Kashmir. Mathur dismissed these remarks, emphasizing that such actions waste the valuable time of the assembly.
The dispute arose during the UN General Assembly debate on the Annual Report of the UN Security Council, where Pakistan’s envoy Munir Akram made references to Kashmir, a topic India views as an internal matter.
Despite India’s consistent rejection of Pakistan’s attempts to internationalize the Kashmir issue, Pakistan continues to raise it in various UN forums without garnering substantial support.
India reaffirmed its stance that the regions of Jammu and Kashmir, including Ladakh, are integral and inseparable parts of India. This assertion underscores India’s policy that any discussions on Kashmir should be handled internally without international interference.
The response from India underscores its commitment to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity against external interference, particularly on sensitive issues like Kashmir.
