The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is deepening its investigation into the alleged irregularities in this year’s National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG). On Wednesday, a CBI team visited Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, to interrogate the school staff, including the principal.
The CBI questioned two individuals connected to the school about the NEET paper leak. These individuals, identified as the principal and staff members of Oasis School, were interrogated at the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) guest house in Charhi, a town in the Hazaribagh district. After the questioning, the CBI released them.
The Special CBI Court in Patna has taken significant steps in the NEET paper leak case. The court has ordered two accused individuals, Baldev Kumar alias Chintu and Mukesh Kumar, to be placed in CBI custody.
These individuals are among the 18 people already in custody for interrogation regarding the NEET-UG question paper leak. The decision was made by CBI Special Judicial Magistrate Harsh Vardhan Singh, who ruled on the CBI’s request to remand the accused.
In similar news, the Union Health Ministry recently postponed the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduates (NEET-PG) 2024, which was initially scheduled for June 23. The President of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, Abhijat Sheth, announced on Tuesday that the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols would be reviewed. The new exam date is expected to be announced by next week.
The postponement of the NEET-PG exam followed rising controversy over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam held on May 5. In response to these allegations, the Bihar government handed over the NEET-UG paper leak case to the CBI. The state government issued a notification on Monday to transfer the investigation to the central agency.
After taking over the NEET-UG probe, the CBI formed special teams to investigate the matter thoroughly. The central government had entrusted the CBI with this task, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive investigation into the alleged irregularities.
The CBI’s intensified probe, along with the involvement of various government bodies, underscores the seriousness of the situation and the commitment to ensuring the integrity of the NEET examinations.
