In a recent development, none of the 813 candidates who retook the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) on June 23 managed to score full marks, significantly impacting the tally of top achievers. Initially, 67 candidates were recognized as top scorers, but this number has now decreased to 61 following the re-examination, as confirmed by officials on Monday.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted this retest for 1,563 students across seven examination centers in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, and Meghalaya. These students had previously been awarded grace marks due to disruptions during the original May 5 exam.
Students who chose not to participate in the retest will revert to their original scores without the added grace marks. Among the 813 candidates who appeared for the re-examination, six individuals had initially achieved a perfect score of 720 out of 720 marks from a center in Haryana. However, in the recent retest, none of them managed to replicate this feat, highlighting the rigorous nature of the assessment.
The NTA has promptly updated the revised scorecards for all NEET(UG) 2024 candidates, including those who undertook the retest on June 23. Candidates can access their revised scorecards through the official NTA website (https://exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/) for viewing, downloading, or printing.
This development underscores the competitive and unpredictable nature of standardized testing, impacting the aspirations of many candidates aiming for top scores in NEET-UG 2024.
