Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel is close to finishing its mission to dismantle Hamas’ military forces in the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu stated, “We are advancing to the end of the phase of eliminating the terrorist army of Hamas, and there will be a continuation to strike its remnants.”
Mass Evacuation Ordered in Khan Younis
In a related move, the Israeli military has ordered a mass evacuation for Palestinians in the eastern part of Khan Younis. This city is Gaza’s second-largest and was previously the site of an Israeli offensive earlier this year.
The evacuation suggests that Israeli forces might be preparing to return to the city, indicating that Hamas may have regrouped there. Israel also mentioned that its offensive in the nearby city of Rafah is in its final stages.
Amid these developments, Prime Minister Netanyahu has called for an investigation into the release of Mohammed Abu Selmia, the director of Shifa Hospital in Gaza. Abu Selmia was released without charge or trial, sparking significant controversy in Israeli political circles.
Both government ministers and opposition leaders have criticized the decision, arguing that Abu Selmia should have remained detained due to allegations that the hospital was used as a Hamas base.

Netanyahu explained that the release followed a petition from a rights group concerned about conditions at a controversial detention facility in southern Israel, which has faced criticism for overcrowding and alleged abuse.
“The decision on who to release is made by security officials based on their professional considerations,” Netanyahu said, adding that he has called for an investigation into the matter.
