Discussions on Global Strategic Landscape
The meeting between Jaishankar and Lavrov also encompassed broader discussions on the global strategic landscape. Both leaders exchanged assessments and viewpoints on various contemporary issues affecting international relations. This dialogue aimed to foster mutual understanding and cooperation amidst the evolving geopolitical environment.
In June, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the deaths of two Indian nationals who had joined the Russian Army, underscoring the risks associated with such engagements. The Ministry has actively engaged with Russian authorities to secure the release and safe return of all Indian nationals currently associated with the Russian military.
Cautionary Measures and Diplomatic Efforts
Following these incidents, the Ministry of External Affairs has advised Indian nationals to exercise caution when seeking employment opportunities in Russia. It has also reiterated its commitment to liaising closely with Russian officials to expedite the repatriation process for affected individuals.
Since March, Indian authorities have maintained continuous communication with Russian counterparts to ensure the timely release and discharge of Indian nationals from military service. The Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Moscow have been instrumental in pursuing this objective through diplomatic channels.
The Indian government remains committed to safeguarding the interests and welfare of its citizens abroad, especially during complex international situations like the current conflict involving Russia and Ukraine.
