Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan is scheduled to administer the Chief Minister’s oath to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) president Hemant Soren today during a grand swearing-in ceremony in Ranchi.
Earlier, the oath-taking event was scheduled for July 7 but Soren will swear in today itself. The development comes after Champai Soren resigned from the Chief Minister’s post, setting the stage for Hemant Soren, who recently walked out of the jail.
Supriyo Bhattacharya, general secretary of the JMM said, ‘Governor has invited us to form the government. The swearing-in ceremony will be held on July 7’.
Soren along with the leaders of the INDIA bloc arrived at Raj Bhavan in Ranchi on the invite of the Governor today.
Champai Soren said, ‘A few years ago, I was made the Chief Minister and I got the responsibility of the state. After Hemant Soren was back, our alliance took this decision and we chose Hemant Soren as our leader. Now, I have resigned from the post of Chief Minister’, said Champai Soren.
Champai Soren took oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand in the Raj Bhavan on February 2 this year.
Hemant Soren was released from the Birsa Munda Jail on June 28 after nearly five months following bail from Jharkhand High Court in a money laundering case.
