Just hours after a woman was killed in hit and run incident in Maharashtra’s Worli, a policeman was killed and another police officer injured after a speeding car knocked down their motorbike in Pune city.
A senior official said, ‘The accident took place on late Sunday night near Harris Bridge in Khadki area. Khadki police station’s beat marshalls PC Shinde and Samadhan Koli were on patrolling duty near the Harris Bridge when a speeding unidentified car hit their vehicle from behind’.
He said, ‘Both of them fell and the car driver fled from the spot in his vehicle. Koli lost his life in the accident while the other policeman was injured and is receiving treatment in a private hospital. We have deployed teams to nab the car driver’.
A woman died after the two-wheeler on which she was travelling with her husband was hit by a speeding BMW car in Mumbai’s Worli area in the early hours of Sunday.
The woman, identified as Kaveri Nakhwa, was travelling with her husband Pradip on the arterial Annie Besant Road when the luxury car driver lost control, the Worli police station official said.
He said, ‘Kaveri Nakhwa fell on the road. Passersby alerted police about the incident. She was rushed to civic-run Nair Hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Kaveri and her husband are fisherfolk and were on their way home from Sassoon Dock In Colaba’, he said.
The driver of the car, Rajesh Shah, and one more occupant identified as Rajrishi Rajendrasingh Bidawat have been booked and arrested’, said the Worli police station official.
