On Monday, President Joe Biden made it clear that he is staying in the race for the 2024 presidential election. Biden emphasized that he would not be running if he didn’t believe he was the best candidate to defeat former President Donald Trump.
In a message to his fellow Democrats, Biden addressed rumors and speculations about his candidacy. Despite some doubts about his performance at the June 27 presidential debate, where he had some moments of confusion, Biden insisted he is committed to running and confident in his ability to win.
Biden’s reaffirmation comes at a time when some Democrats are urging the 81-year-old President to reconsider his bid for re-election. They point to his debate performance as a sign of his age impacting his ability to campaign effectively.
Over the past 10 days, Biden said he has had many conversations with Democratic leaders and voters. He expressed gratitude for their support and reiterated that he is the frontrunner in the Democratic race. Biden highlighted his strong showing in the Democratic nomination process, where he received over 14 million votes, making him the presumptive nominee with nearly 3,900 delegates.
“We had a Democratic nomination process and the voters have spoken clearly and decisively,” Biden stated. “I received over 14 million votes, 87 percent of the cast across the entire nominating process. I have nearly 3,900 delegates, making me the presumptive nominee of our party by a wide margin.”

In an interview with ABC News last week, Biden dismissed the idea that he could be persuaded to drop out of the race. He stated that only the “Lord Almighty” could convince him to stand down, showing his determination to continue his campaign.
Despite the calls from five U.S. lawmakers, including Representative Angie Craig of Minnesota, for Biden to end his re-election bid, Biden remains resolute. He believes in his ability to lead and is determined to win the upcoming election against Trump.
As the 2024 election approaches, Biden’s commitment to his campaign and his confidence in his support from Democratic voters and leaders are evident. He is focused on staying in the race and defeating Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
