In an incident, four soldiers of the Indian Army lost their lives, and several others were injured during a terrorist attack in the Machedi area of Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir. Brigadier Prithviraj Chauhan, Commander of the 1st Rashtriya Rifles (RR) sector, announced on Monday that security forces killed six terrorists in two separate encounters in South Kashmir.
According to Brigadier Chauhan, this operation deals a significant blow to the Hizbul-Mujahideen, a prominent militant group in the region. He also mentioned that one Army personnel lost his life during the operation, highlighting the ongoing sacrifices made by the security forces.
The first encounter took place in Modergam village, where security forces engaged with the terrorists. Just hours later, another encounter erupted in the Frisal Chinnigam area of the same district, demonstrating the high level of militant activity in the region.
Rising Terrorist Activities in Jammu and Kashmir
The past few months have seen a noticeable spike in terrorist attacks across Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces have been engaged in numerous operations to counter these threats. In June, three terrorists were neutralized in an encounter in the Gandoh, Bhaderwah sector of district Doda, as reported by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Anand Jain.
