Mihir Shah, the main suspect in a tragic hit-and-run incident in Worli, has been arrested. The incident, which occurred on July 7, resulted in the death of a woman named Kaveri Nakhwa and injuries to her husband, Pradip. Mihir had been on the run since the accident.
Mihir Shah, 24, is the son of Rajesh Shah, a prominent leader in the Shiv Sena party from the Eknath Shinde faction. Following the incident, Rajesh Shah was also taken into custody by the Worli police but was released on bail shortly after.
The accident took place early in the morning on July 7 on Annie Besant Road in Worli. Mihir Shah was allegedly driving a BMW when he hit the couple on their scooter. The impact killed Kaveri Nakhwa instantly and left her husband, Pradip, injured. After the crash, the BMW was found abandoned in Kala Nagar, Bandra East.
The police have charged Mihir Shah with several serious offenses. These include culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash, and negligent driving, endangering life and personal safety, and causing damage. Specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sahita and the Motor Vehicles Act have been cited in the charges against him.
According to police reports, Rajesh Shah allegedly advised his son to switch places with the driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, who was in the passenger seat at the time of the accident. This plan was supposedly an attempt to frame the driver for the incident and protect Mihir.
The police are continuing their investigation into the case. The arrest of Mihir Shah marks a significant development, but authorities are still looking into the actions of Rajesh Shah and any other potential attempts to obstruct justice.
The hit-and-run incident has sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for strict action against those responsible. The loss of Kaveri Nakhwa has left her family and friends devastated, and there is a strong demand for justice.
