On Tuesday, a tense situation unfolded in the Goli-Gadi forests of the Doda district, as security forces engaged in a cordon and search operation following intelligence about terrorist presence. Officials reported that during the operation, terrorists hiding in the area initiated gunfire at the security forces.
In response, the forces retaliated, leading to an ongoing exchange of fire. The security forces have managed to encircle two to three terrorists within the area.
Recent Terrorist Attack in Kathua
This incident follows closely on the heels of a tragic terrorist attack in the Machedi area of Kathua district. The Kashmir Tigers, a shadow group affiliated with the banned Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), claimed responsibility for this attack. Noting, this was the second attack in Kathua district within a month and the fifth in the wider Jammu region this year.
