Donald Trump and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban are set to meet on Thursday at Trump’s home in Florida. The details of their meeting are not entirely clear, but it’s known that they will discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Orban has recently made unexpected visits to Kyiv, Moscow, and Beijing on what he calls a “peace mission.” His trip to Moscow, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, has particularly upset some NATO allies. They believe this meeting gave unwarranted support to Putin’s claims over Ukrainian territory that Russia seized after its 2022 invasion.
NATO Summit and Washington Visit
Orban has been attending a NATO summit in Washington. The Hungarian embassy in Washington did not comment on the planned meeting with Trump. Bloomberg was the first to report on this upcoming meeting.

In recent months, many foreign officials have sought meetings with Trump and his advisors. They aim to discuss his foreign policy plans in case he wins the presidential election against Democratic President Joe Biden on November 5. Current polls show Trump gaining a significant lead over Biden.
One of Trump’s advisors, Keith Kellogg, has been meeting with several high-ranking foreign officials during the NATO summit, as reported by Reuters this week.
Orban last met with Trump in early March. Following that meeting, the Hungarian prime minister, known for his right-wing nationalist views, expressed his support for Trump’s presidential campaign.
This meeting between Trump and Orban comes at a time of heightened international tensions and could have significant implications for future foreign policy decisions.
