On Saturday morning, a tragic bus accident occurred in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, resulting in the deaths of at least two people and injuries to 25 others. The mishap took place around 10:25 AM near Bhatyas when a private minibus, traveling from Bhalessa to Thathri, skidded off the road and plunged into a 200-feet-deep gorge.
Rescuers found one woman dead at the scene. Another injured passenger succumbed to her injuries at a hospital. Among the injured, nine individuals were reported to be in serious condition and are receiving treatment at the Government Medical College in Doda.
This unfortunate event follows a series of similar accidents in the region. Just a day before, in Poonch district, a Bolero car carrying eight passengers skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge, killing a mother and her son. The vehicle was en route from Surankote to Srinagar when it met with the accident at Pannar.

On July 9, a car accident in Kishtwar district resulted in the deaths of three people and left three others critically injured. The incident occurred near Sounder in the remote Dachhan area around 5:45 PM.
Earlier, on June 30, another tragic accident claimed the lives of a father and son and seriously injured the mother. The family’s car fell into a gorge in Rajouri district. The victims were identified as Shakeel Ahmad, his wife Shamim Akhter, and their son Mohd Mukhtar. They were traveling from Kotranka to Shahpur when the accident occurred.
These recurring accidents highlight the perilous conditions of the roads in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in hilly and remote areas.
