India has reiterated its long-standing support for a peaceful solution to the Palestine issue, advocating for a “two-state solution” that ensures a sovereign, independent Palestine living in peace alongside Israel. This statement was made by India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador R Ravindra, at a UN conference for Palestinian refugees.
Ambassador Ravindra emphasized India’s historical commitment to a negotiated solution, calling for secure and recognized borders for both states. He reaffirmed India’s consistent stance on the matter and its dedication to peaceful conflict resolution.
India has condemned the ongoing violence between Israel and Hamas, particularly the October 7 attack by Hamas militants. Ravindra strongly denounced the death of civilians, especially women and children, and called for the unconditional release of all hostages taken during the attack.

Funding Needs for Humanitarian Efforts
UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini warned that the agency’s operations might halt without immediate financial support. The agency requires USD 1.2 billion to meet humanitarian needs in the occupied Palestinian territories until the end of the year. Currently, funding is significantly lacking for emergency appeals for Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan.
India remains a steadfast ally of Palestine, advocating for peace and providing substantial aid. The global community is called upon to support UNRWA’s efforts and ensure humanitarian assistance reaches those in need in Palestine.
