President Joe Biden criticized Donald Trump’s “dark vision” for the country on Saturday. He also announced he would resume his campaign next week to highlight his Republican rival’s Project 2025 agenda. This comes amid calls from some Democrats for Biden to step out of the race.
In a series of 13 posts on social media platform X, Biden, 81, shared his thoughts on Trump’s recent speech. Biden, who is currently isolating at his home in Delaware after testing positive for COVID-19, used the opportunity to fact-check Trump’s claims and promote his administration’s actions.
Biden started the thread by poking fun at Trump’s keynote speech at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. He wrote, “I’m stuck at home with Covid, so I had the distinct misfortune of watching Donald Trump’s speech to the RNC. What the hell was he talking about?”

He continued with 11 more posts, addressing various issues Trump mentioned. These included Trump’s handling of COVID-19, claims about Social Security and Medicare, tax cuts, inflation, and his Project 2025 agenda. In one post, Biden mocked Trump for praising Hannibal Lecter, a fictional cannibal character, which quickly gained attention online.
The final post in the thread encouraged supporters to contribute to Biden’s campaign, featuring a poster of Trump and his running mate, J.D. Vance, with the caption: “Protect Democracy. Defeat Trump-Vance.”
Here’s the deal about J.D. Vance. He talks a big game about working people. But now, he and Trump want to raise taxes on middle-class families while pushing more tax cuts for the rich.
Well, I don’t intend to let them. And if you’re with me, pitch in: https://t.co/ALkc9uHFh9

Biden’s campaign issued a statement where he condemned Trump’s vision for the future, describing it as un-American. Biden expressed confidence that the country could defeat Trump at the ballot box.
Looking ahead, Biden stated he is eager to return to the campaign trail next week. He aims to expose the dangers of Trump’s Project 2025 agenda and promote his own vision for America. Biden emphasized his commitment to saving democracy, protecting rights and freedoms, and creating opportunities for all.
Biden criticized Trump’s speech for focusing on personal grievances without offering a plan to unite the country or improve life for working people. He also highlighted the extremism in Trump’s rhetoric, particularly regarding immigration.
Project 2025, supported by the Heritage Foundation, aims to reshape federal agencies around a conservative vision and recruit loyal conservatives for government positions. Biden’s campaign stressed that Trump remains focused on revenge and retribution, despite his past impeachments and legal issues.
Following Biden’s poor performance in the first presidential debate against Trump, some Democrats have questioned his ability to win in November. As of Friday, at least 10 Democrats have suggested that Biden should step aside.
