China Constructs Massive Dam on Yarlung Tsangpo River Near Arunachal Pradesh; India Reacts | Ritam
China’s habitual expansionist tactics have yet again, raised concerns in the Northeast state of Arunachal Pradesh, as Beijing is constructing a massive 60,000-megawatt dam on the Yarlung Tsangpo River in Medog, near the state’s border. Expressing concerns, senior BJP MLA of the northeastern state, Ninong Ering has demanded immediate intervention of the Central government in the matter. The construction of the dam has sent alarm bells ringing in India owing to multiple reasons such as the diversion of water flow, the flood-like situation in case China releases water, and trans-nation concerns.
