Modi Government’s Decision to Lift Ban on RSS Affiliates: A Just Tribute to Nation-Building and Inclusivity

On Monday, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) expressed its appreciation for the BJP-led Central government’s decision to allow government employees to participate in RSS activities and events. This move has been widely hailed as a step toward reinforcing India’s democratic framework. The RSS believes that this decision acknowledges its long-standing contributions to nation-building and societal service.

For nearly a century, the RSS has been actively engaged in efforts to strengthen national security, promote unity, and assist during natural disasters.

Sunil Ambekar, the RSS’s publicity chief, highlighted that the organization’s role in these areas has been recognized by various leaders across the country. The Modi government’s decision to lift the ban on government employees participating in RSS activities is seen as a recognition of these contributions.

The previous Congress government had imposed restrictions on government employees participating in RSS activities, a move that was widely perceived as politically motivated. The Congress argued that the RSS’s activities were contrary to government conduct.

However, the RSS has consistently been a proponent of constructive engagement in national development, and many believe that the ban was an unjustified impediment to its mission of nation-building.

The lifting of the ban by the current government is viewed as a significant and positive change. Amit Malviya, head of the BJP’s IT department, shared details of the order, emphasizing that it rectifies an “unconstitutional” directive from 58 years ago. This adjustment aligns with the Modi government’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and respecting organizations that contribute to the country’s progress.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh baselessly criticized the decision, referencing historical events and questioning the RSS’s allegiance to democratic values. However, this perspective overlooks the positive impact the RSS has had on Indian society over the years. The organization has been instrumental in various social initiatives and has played a vital role in fostering national unity.

The decision to remove the restrictions on government employees participating in RSS activities can be seen as a tribute to the organization’s enduring commitment to national development. It reflects a broader recognition of the RSS’s positive contributions and aligns with the Modi government’s vision of strengthening democratic institutions.

By allowing greater engagement with such organizations, the government is reinforcing a culture of respect for those who actively contribute to the nation’s progress.

This government policy change acknowledges the RSS’s significant role in India’s development and supports the idea of inclusive participation in national initiatives.
