On Monday, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi reviewed the latest supplementary charge sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against K Kavitha, a leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Special Judge Kaveri Baweja has scheduled a video conference hearing for K Kavitha on July 26 at 2 PM. This step follows the court’s decision to acknowledge the new charge sheet. The court has also instructed the police to ensure K Kavitha’s presence via video link.
In addition to this, the court has extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia and other accused individuals until July 26. The court has directed that a copy of the new charge sheet be provided to the defense counsel representing K Kavitha and the other accused. The upcoming hearing will focus on examining the documents related to the case.
The case has seen multiple charge sheets, with the third supplementary charge sheet being reviewed by the court on July 8. Advocate DP Singh, representing the prosecution, argued that the court had already taken cognizance of the offense and that this new charge sheet serves the purpose of further considering the accusations and summoning the accused. He highlighted the involvement of the so-called “South Group” and claimed that key figures in this group acted under Kavitha’s direction.
DP Singh also referred to statements made by various individuals, including TDP MP Magunta S Reddy and his son Raghav Magunta. The prosecution plans to use these statements, along with those from Sarath Reddy and Gopi Kumaran, to support their case against K Kavitha.

The CBI initially filed the charge sheet against K Kavitha on June 6, marking it as the third supplementary charge sheet in the ongoing Delhi Excise Policy case. K Kavitha has been in judicial custody related to both CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigations. She was first detained by the ED on March 15 and subsequently by the CBI on April 11.
The court has postponed the hearing on K Kavitha’s default bail plea to August 5. This delay will allow further legal proceedings and considerations related to her case.
