Vice President Kamala Harris officially launched her 2024 presidential campaign with a rally in Wisconsin on Tuesday, emphasizing her commitment to uniting the Democratic Party ahead of the Democratic National Convention next month and the upcoming election showdown with Donald Trump.
During her speech at the campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Harris indirectly attacked former President Donald Trump, accusing him of abusing women and exploiting consumers. “Predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain. So hear me when I say I know Donald Trump’s type,” the 59-year-old Democrat stated, as reported by CNN.
Harris is the likely Democratic candidate to face Republican nominee Donald Trump, following President Joe Biden’s decision to step out of the presidential race. Biden endorsed Harris as the presidential nominee, announcing that his decision was in the “best interest” of the Democratic Party and the country.
Greeting her supporters with loud cheers, Harris highlighted her record on climate change, Big Oil, and Wall Street, stating that her campaign is about more than just her versus Trump. She emphasized that the campaign presents two different visions: one focused on the future and the other on the past.
Although Harris has not yet been officially declared the Democratic candidate, her endorsement by President Biden positions her as the frontrunner in the race against Trump. Harris vowed to continue her efforts to unite the party and rally support in the lead-up to the Democratic National Convention and the fall election.
