Lammy’s schedule includes meetings with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and various climate and business leaders. The goal is to unlock the full potential of the UK-India partnership. A major topic of discussion will be reinforcing the UK’s commitment to securing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to promote greater economic growth in both countries.
During his visit, Lammy will also highlight the importance of the ‘Living Bridge’ between the UK and India. This term refers to the 1.7 million people of Indian heritage living in the UK who have significantly contributed to British society. The Foreign Secretary plans to acknowledge and celebrate the extraordinary contributions of British Indians to the UK’s social and economic landscape.
After concluding his visit to India, Lammy is scheduled to attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Laos. There, he will work on advancing UK economic partnerships and announce new cooperation initiatives on climate and health issues.
David Lammy’s visit to India is a significant step in strengthening the UK-India relationship. Through discussions on trade, climate, and the contributions of the Indian diaspora, both countries aim to build a stronger, more collaborative future.
