In Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, the director of Lakme Academy, Rakshanda Khan, faces serious allegations from two Hindu trainees, Tanya Chaudhary and Swati Pal, who accused her of coercing them to befriend Muslim youths and convert to Islam. The duo filed a complaint on July 22 to District Collector Anuj Singh, leading to an official investigation.
Tanya and Swati claimed that Khan, originally a Hindu who converted to Islam 17 years ago, encouraged Hindu girls at the academy to form relationships with Muslim boys and convert through Nikah.
They also alleged that the academy, located on Kanth Road, predominantly employs Muslim men and Hindu women, creating an environment where Hindu girls are pressured to convert.
The complainants detailed that Khan banned Hindu religious symbols, such as bindis and mangalsutras, while allowing Muslim students to practice their faith openly.
Additionally, Tanya mentioned that despite assurances that meat and fish were prohibited, Muslim boys frequently consumed these foods on the premises.
On the basis of their complaint, the Moradabad Police have booked Khan under Sections 299, 351(2), and 318(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. An investigation is underway by the Civil Lines Police Station.
Bajrang Dal activists protested outside the academy on July 23, demanding strict action against Khan and the closure of her institute. The activists also called for refunds for affected students.
This incident follows similar allegations nearly a year ago by another Hindu student, Raj Rana, who accused Khan of promoting Islam instead of focusing on the course curriculum.
