A tragic explosion occurred in Shair Colony, Sopore, on Monday, resulting in the death of four individuals. The victims, identified as Nazir Ahmad Nadroo, Azam Ashraf Mir, Mohammad Azhar, and Adil Rashid Bhat, were all scrap dealers.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore, Divya D, the explosion happened while the victims were unloading scrap material that they had transported from the Union Territory of Ladakh. The SSP explained that the incident took place as the scrap was being unloaded in Shair Colony.
The police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) and initiated a thorough investigation into the explosion. The medical-legal procedures for the deceased are currently being carried out at the hospital. Additionally, a forensic service legal team is expected to arrive soon to help with the investigation.
In response to the explosion, the area has been sanitized, and security forces have been deployed to ensure public safety and maintain order. The local residents gathered at the scene in the aftermath of the incident, expressing their concern and seeking information.
