On Thursday, the Indian Embassy in Lebanon issued an urgent advisory for all Indian nationals to leave Lebanon due to escalating tensions in the region. The warning comes in response to recent developments, including a rocket attack on the Golan Heights that has heightened security concerns.
The embassy strongly advised Indian nationals not to travel to Lebanon until further notice and recommended that those currently in Lebanon exercise extreme caution.
The advisory emphasized the need for residents to limit their movements and stay in regular contact with the Indian Embassy in Beirut for updates and support. The embassy provided an emergency contact number and email for assistance: +96176860128 and cons.beirut@mea.gov.in, respectively.
The situation in the region has become increasingly volatile following a rocket attack on the Golan Heights, which was reportedly carried out by Hezbollah and resulted in the deaths of 12 children. In retaliation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a strike that killed Fuad Shukr, a senior Hezbollah commander, on Tuesday. Shukr was a key figure in Hezbollah’s military operations and was responsible for the group’s advanced weaponry and strategic attacks against Israel.
In addition, the IDF confirmed the death of Mohammed Deif, a prominent Hamas military commander, in an airstrike on July 13 in the southern Gaza Strip. This announcement came after the recent death of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, who was killed in an attack in Tehran, Iran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that Israel has delivered “crushing blows” to its adversaries in recent days, underscoring the severity of the ongoing conflict.
