July 13 Incident and Trump’s Reaction
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump recently revealed that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg contacted him several times after a shocking assassination attempt on the former president. On July 13, Trump was grazed by a bullet in his right ear. In a dramatic photograph taken shortly after the incident, Trump is seen with his fist raised, shouting, “Fight, fight, fight.”
Trump shared that Zuckerberg reached out to apologize for Meta and Instagram censoring the photo of the incident. According to Trump, Zuckerberg expressed admiration for his bravery on that day. “That was really amazing; it was very brave,” Zuckerberg reportedly told Trump.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump mentioned that Zuckerberg indicated he would not be supporting the Democrats in the upcoming election. He cited respect for Trump’s actions as a reason for this decision. “So Mark Zuckerberg called me a few times. He actually announced he was not going to support Democrats because he respects me for what I did that day. He apologized; he said they made a mistake, etc., and they are correcting the mistake. But nobody called from Google,” Trump told Fox News.

Zuckerberg’s Neutrality in the Upcoming Election
Earlier in July, Zuckerberg made it clear that he would not be supporting either Donald Trump or Joe Biden in the upcoming US presidential elections. He stated that he does not want to be involved in the political fray this time around.
Zuckerberg’s comments come amidst a noticeable trend where several prominent Silicon Valley figures, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk and venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, have shown support for Trump’s presidential campaign. This shift signifies a changing dynamic in the tech industry’s political affiliations as the 2024 election approaches.
