In a remarkable display of coordination and bravery, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), Indian Army, and Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully rescued three people who were stranded at Soochipara Waterfalls in the landslide-hit Wayanad district of Kerala. The rescue took place on Saturday amidst challenging conditions following recent landslides in the area.
During a morning search operation along the riverbanks from Mundakai to Soochipara, the ICG team spotted the stranded individuals near the waterfalls. They promptly reported their findings to the control center in Mepadi. This discovery initiated a swift and coordinated rescue mission involving land and air resources.
The ICG, Army, and IAF quickly mobilized their teams to carry out the rescue operation. Utilizing both ground and aerial resources, they managed to safely retrieve all three stranded individuals. The successful rescue highlighted the dedication and efficiency of the involved forces.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the massive landslides that occurred on July 30 in Chooralmala and Mundakkai of Wayanad has reached 308, according to Kerala Health Minister Veena George. As of Friday, the latest update reported that 215 bodies and 143 body parts have been recovered. The deceased included 98 males, 87 females, and 30 children. Post-mortem procedures were completed on 212 bodies and 140 body parts, and 148 bodies have been identified by relatives so far.
The combined efforts of the ICG, Army, and IAF in this rescue operation provided a glimmer of hope amidst the tragic aftermath of the landslides.
