The Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, has announced that the interim government will take its oaths on Thursday evening. Initially, the government will have around 15 members, with the possibility of adding one or two more later.
The ceremony was initially proposed for Thursday afternoon, but due to the arrival of Dr. Muhammad Yunus at 2:10 pm, it will now be held around 8 pm. General Zaman shared these details during a press briefing at the Army Headquarters on Wednesday. The event will accommodate 400 people.
Bangladesh is currently facing a turbulent political climate. On August 5, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned amidst widespread protests. The protests, primarily led by students demanding an end to the government job quota system, escalated into anti-government demonstrations.
Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus Calls for Peace

In a statement, he called violence an “enemy” and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace to build a better future for the country. Yunus congratulated the students for their successful protests, referring to it as the “Second Victory Day,” and thanked the public for their support. He encouraged everyone to make the most of this new victory by avoiding violence and working together to build the country. Yunus is expected to arrive in Dhaka from Paris on Thursday.
