On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wish to Professor Muhammad Yunus. Notably, Professor Muhammad Yunus is the head of the newly formed interim government of Bangladesh, which came days after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.
PM Modi, also sent a very clear message to the new head of the Bangladesh interim government over the atrocities against the Hindu community.
He raised concerns about the protection of Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh after many reports of attacks on Hindu families surfaced. In his post on X handle, PM Modi said, “My best wishes to Professor Muhammad Yunus on the assumption of his new responsibilities. We hope for an early return to normalcy, ensuring the safety and protection of Hindus and all other minority communities.”
“India remains committed to working with Bangladesh to fulfil the shared aspirations of both our peoples for peace, security and development,” the prime minister also reiterated the promise to work in coordination with the Bangladesh government for the development of the two countries.
Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, took oath on Thursday as the head of an interim government in Bangladesh. Yunus was administered the oath of office by President Mohammed Shahabuddin, at a ceremony at the presidential palace in Dhaka.
He was appointed as the head of the interim government on Tuesday after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India following protests against her government over a controversial quota system in jobs.
Notably, Yunus won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for his work on microlending.
