A regional turboprop plane carrying 62 people crashed near São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday, resulting in the deaths of all on board, local officials confirmed. The ATR-made plane was captured on video spinning out of control before plummeting behind a cluster of trees near houses, followed by a large plume of black smoke.

Valinhos city officials, near Vinhedo, reported no survivors and minimal damage, with only one home in a local condominium complex affected and no residents injured.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva addressed the tragedy at an event shortly after the crash, expressing his condolences and requesting a minute of silence for the victims.
The Voepass airline stated the plane, which departed from Cascavel, Paraná, en route to São Paulo’s main international airport, crashed in Vinhedo, approximately 80 kilometers northwest of São Paulo. The airline, which is not listed, provided no additional details about the cause of the crash. The aircraft, registered as PS-VPB, was an ATR 72-500 turboprop.
FlightRadar24 listed the plane as an ATR 72-500. ATR, jointly owned by Airbus and Italian aerospace group Leonardo, has not yet responded to requests for comment. Meanwhile, São Paulo’s state fire brigade deployed seven crews to the crash site shortly after the incident.
