In a tragic incident, two Indian Army soldiers lost their lives in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday. The soldiers were injured in a firefight between security forces and terrorists in the Kokernag area and later succumbed to their injuries.
According to Defence officials, operations are still in progress, and the situation is being closely monitored. Earlier in the day, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and CRPF based on specific intelligence input, resulting in contact with the terrorists and a subsequent firefight.
In a separate incident, another encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Ahlan Gagarmandu area of Anantnag district. Police and security forces are working together to neutralize the situation.
In a related development, the Jammu and Kashmir Police released sketches of four terrorists suspected to be hiding in the Kathua district and announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to their capture. This incident follows recent terror attacks in the Jammu region, including an attack on an army convoy in Kathua and encounters in Doda and Udhampur.
