In response to the incident, senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee has called for urgent legislative action. He proposed a bill to expedite the trial and conviction of rapists and murderers within a week, advocating for severe punishment for those found guilty. Banerjee suggested that such criminals should face either an encounter or capital punishment.
