Amidst the ongoing encounter in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, another gunfight broke out between the security forces and Jaish-linked terrorists during a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district.
According to the media reports, the security forces established contact with 3 to 4 terrorists hiding in the dense forests in Udhampur’s Basantgarh area. Following this the area was cordoned off and a manhunt was launched by the security forces.
The encounter happened after the terrorists began firing at the security forces in the forest area. If reports are to be believed, the same group of terrorists were intercepted earlier on August 6, when they had managed to escape from the spot.
As per information, on intelligence input, the joint security forces trapped the group of terrorists in the Khaned area of Basantgarh after contact was established with the hiding terrorists in the upper reaches of Basantgarh. This is the second encounter with the terrorists in the Jammu region in the day.
Meanwhile, Security forces have intensified their efforts to flush out terrorists hiding in the dense forests of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir. The ongoing operation, now in its second day, has already claimed the lives of two soldiers and a civilian.
Additional security personnel have been deployed to the Ahlan Gagarmandu forest area, where the terrorists, believed to number between three and four, are hiding. The operation is focused on the upper reaches of Gagarmandu, where an intense search is underway to locate and neutralize the terrorists.
