On the occasion of Independence Day, programs were organized at every district headquarters and sub-division level in Punjab. At the same time, BSF also organized programs on the occasion of 78th Independence Day on the Indo-Pak border.
BSF DG Daljit Singh Chaudhary, who was on a visit to Punjab, hoisted the national flag at Sector Headquarters BSF in Amritsar. Apart from Dr. Atul Fuljele, IPS, IG BSF Punjab, senior officers of Border Security Force and BSF jawans were present in this program.
DG BSF Chaudhary greeted all BSF personnel and their families on Independence Day. He reiterated the unwavering commitment of BSF to protect the sovereignty of India from all threats and assured the people that BSF remains alert in all circumstances for the security of the nation.
Daljit Singh Chaudhary expressed these views while addressing a meeting of officers in Amritsar sector during his visit to Punjab on Thursday. He was briefed by Punjab BSF IG Dr. Atul Fuljele about the operational preparations on the Punjab border. The discussion focused on strategies to combat drug smuggling through drones and the measures being taken to effectively counter infiltration attempts.
DG BSF also interacted with senior officials and held extensive discussions on all activities from Pakistan’s side. He visited important establishments in Sector Amritsar and reviewed the measures being taken to assess the threats and prepare a counter strategy. He appreciated the efforts being made by BSF Punjab Frontier to counter and deal with all types of threats from across the border.
Meanwhile, Independence Day celebrations began with flag hoisting at the Indo-Pak Wagah border. Here DIG Border Range SS Chandel hoisted the flag. After which sweets were distributed to the BSF soldiers. During this, sweets and fruit baskets were given to the Indian Army soldiers by the Pakistani officers. Earlier on Wednesday, BSF had given sweets to the Pak Rangers on Pakistan’s Independence Day and gifted them sweets at the Attari-Wagah border.
People from India who reached the border at 12 midnight at Wagah border gave the message of unity to the governments of both the countries for a bright future. During this, a candle march was also taken out and tribute was paid to the 10 lakh people who died in the partition. People raised slogans of Hindu-Pak brotherhood Zindabad. The golden gate built on the Attari border on the night of independence was also seen painted in the colors of the tricolor. This peace march was taken out by the Indo-Pak Dosti Manch, Folklore Research Academy, Punjab Jagriti Manch, Safma organizations.
