A vehicle full of devotees collided with a truck standing in front near Gulampur town of Saini police station area of the district.
Three devotees including a woman died in the accident, while 18 other passengers were injured. The devotees were returning to Balrampur after visiting Deoghar in Chhattisgarh, when they became victims of this accident in Kaushambi district. On getting information about the accident, the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police reached the spot.
They took stock of the incident and helped in taking the injured to the district hospital for treatment. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of this accident. He has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased.
According to Superintendent of Police Brijesh Srivastava, more than 20 people from Balrampur had set out on the Chhattisgarh Deoghar Kanwar Yatra eight days ago.
After offering water to Lord Shiva in Deoghar, all of them left by car to return via Vrindavan, Prayagraj and Banaras. On Friday morning when his vehicle was passing near Gulampur town in Saini of Kaushambi district, suddenly the driver of the vehicle carrying Kanwariyas collided with a truck parked on the side of the road due to confusion and sleep on National Highway 2.
Due to the accident, there was a lot of screaming among the Kanwariyas travelling in the vehicle. As soon as the information of the accident was received, the Saini police station reached the spot and carried out relief and rescue work quickly and took out 18 injured and took them to the hospital for treatment.
As soon as the information was received, the District Magistrate and he rached the spot. He took the condition of the injured and directed the health department to provide better treatment to them.
The SP said that the injured driver told the police that a woman Aarti Devi (58), Kanwariya Munni Pal (65), Feku (68) died in the accident. The police carried out a rescue operation and took out the 18 injured Kanwariyas from the car and admitted them to the district hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been taken into custody and further action is being taken on the basis of legal proceedings and identification.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the road accident in Kaushambi. He has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. The Chief Minister has
directed the officials to immediately reach the spot and immediately take the injured to the hospital and provide them proper treatment. The Chief Minister has also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
