The Madhya Pradesh government has taken a big decision regarding madrasas. The School Education Department has issued an order for physical verification of children studying in madrasas.
According to the order, the recognition of those madrasas will be canceled where religious education is being given to children who are non-Muslims or children who are being taught Quran without the permission of their parents.
On Friday, the School Education Department issued an order saying that the names of many non-Muslim children are registered as students in the madrasas of the state for the purpose of receiving government grants. It needs to be verified soon.
Physical verification of those madrasas which are recognized by Madhya Pradesh Madrasa Board should be done. If names of non-Muslim and Muslim children are found to be registered fraudulently in these madrasas to get government grants, then along with stopping their grants, the recognition of those madrasas will be cancelled. Apart from this, action will also be taken against them under appropriate penal provisions.
According to Article 28 (3) of the Indian Constitution, “No person attending any educational institution recognized by the state or aided by state funds can be forced to participate in any religious education given in such institution. Apart from this, he cannot be forced to attend religious worship performed in such institution or in the place attached to it unless that person or in the case of minors, his guardian has given his consent for this. And if this law has not been followed, then the recognition of these madrasas should be cancelled along with stopping the grants being given to them and due action and other appropriate legal action should be ensured.
Education Minister Rao Uday Pratap Singh has given instructions to submit the report of physical verification of students studying in madrasas soon.
