In the biggest blackmail case in Ajmer, Rajasthan the remaining six accused have been convicted. The court will pronounce the sentence on them today at 2 pm. The court has convicted Nafees Chishti, Naseem alias Tarzan, Salim Chishti, Iqbal Bhati, Sohail Ghani and Syed Zameer Hussain. The court will pronounce their sentence at 2 pm.
There were 18 accused in the gang rape and blackmailing case of more than 100 school and college girls in 1992. As of now, 9 have been sentenced. One has committed suicide and one is absconding. Nude pictures of about 250 girls studying in schools and colleges were obtained.
More than 100 girls were gang raped by threatening to leak them. The gang members used to call the school girls to the farmhouse. They used to gangrape them. The age of these girls at that time was 11 to 20 years. Presently, four accused in the case have already served their sentence.
Meanwhile in the recent RG Kar Incident, the Supreme Court formed a national taskforce to ensure the safety of doctors in the country.
They announced the following members of the task force: Surgeon Vice Admiral RK Sarian; Dr Reddy, Managing Director Asian Institute of National Gastrology; Dr M Srivas, Director AIIMS, Delhi; Dr Prathima Moorthy, NIMHANS, Bangalore; Dr Puri, Director, AIIMs, Jodhpur; Dr Ravat, Managing member of Gangaram Hospital; Prof Anita Saxena, VC of Pandit BD Sharma College; Dr Pallavi and Dr Padma Srivastav.
The taskforce will also include ex-officio members – the cabinet secretary, the home secretary, secretary of ministry of family welfare, chairperson of the National Medical commission and (e) President of the National Board of Examiners.
