Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on an official visit to two countries, Poland and Ukraine, from today. PM Modi has left for Poland. According to a press release, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a state visit to Poland on August 21 and 22.
This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in the last 45 years. The Prime Minister will be formally welcomed in Warsaw and will meet Polish President Andrzej Sebastian Duda and hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The Prime Minister will also interact with the Indian community in Poland.
According to the release, after this Prime Minister Modi will visit Ukraine. This will be the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine after the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992. The Prime Minister’s programs in Kyiv will include many aspects of bilateral relations including political, trade, economic, investment, education, cultural, people-to-people exchange, humanitarian assistance and others.
Prime Minister Modi will also interact with the Indian community including students during the visit. The Prime Minister’s historic visit to Ukraine will help in strengthening and expanding bilateral relations.
This visit is also important from the point of view that currently there is a conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Prime Minister Modi went to Russia on his first bilateral foreign visit after taking office for the third time.
In this regard, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs Tanmay Lal had told in a press conference held in the Ministry of External Affairs that Prime Minister Modi will go on an official visit to Poland on August 21 at the invitation of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
The visit is taking place at a time when both the countries are also celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. He informed that after this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make an official visit to Ukraine on August 23 at the invitation of Ukrainian President Zelensky.
This is also a historic visit, as this will be the first time in more than 30 years since our diplomatic relations were established that an Indian Prime Minister will visit Ukraine.
