People are angry over the sexual assault case of two 3-year-old girls in Badlapur, Maharashtra. People’s anger erupted due to the disgusting act with the girls. They took to the streets and protested.
During this, the protesters blocked the railway track at Badlapur railway station and sat in front of the railway track for several hours. Due to which Mumbai-Pune rail services came to a complete halt.
12 express and mail trains were diverted and 30 local trains had to be partially cancelled. The angry protesters also pelted stones at the police and the school was also vandalized.
The police lathi-charged and dispersed the protesters. After about 9 hours, the protesters vacated the railway track. At the same time, the police has registered an FIR against 300 protesters and 40 people have also been arrested.
Section 163 was imposed in Badlapur which is continuing and the internet of the city is closed. The administration has also ordered to keep the shops closed.
The police have arrested the accused sanitation worker Akshay Shinde in this case and the court has sent him on 3-day police remand. The relatives of the victim girls have accused the police of negligence and suppressing the case.
The parents of the victim girls alleged that the police registered their complaint after 12 hours. They told that they waited for three hours before the police came to take the statement of the girls.
At the same time, the police say that they were facing technical problems with the statement of the girl. In such a situation, they also had to use the same sign language, which took time. Due to this, the FIR was delayed.
The school management suspended the principal, a class teacher and a female attendant for the incident. The Maharashtra government ordered the suspension of three police officers, including a senior police inspector, for alleged negligence in investigating the case. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the case. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the case should be heard in a fast-track court so that the victim can get justice quickly.
