Many companies have called for a Bharat Bandh today against the decision given by the Supreme Court on SC/ST reservation. The effect of the bandh is visible in some cities of Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Parties like BSP and RJD have also supported this Bharat Bandh called by Aarakshan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti. During the Bharat Bandh, can be seen affecting the public transport services due to which passengers are troubled.
At the same time, emergency services like hospitals and ambulances are running. The maximum effect of Bharat Bandh is being seen in Bihar. A large number of protesters created a ruckus near Science College. These people broke the police barricades and started moving forward.
The police had to lathi-charge them to control them. The police dispersed the crowd by lathi-charge and water cannons were also used on them. In Danapur, Bihar, protesters set fire near the DRM (Divisional Railway Manager) office and blocked the road. In Ara, Bhim Army workers came on the railway track and blocked the up and down lines.
Railway track operations have come to a halt. In Jehanabad, Bharat Bandh supporters have blocked NH 83 in Unta. There was a clash between bandh supporters and police in Jehanabad. The effect of the bandh was seen in Purnia’s Girja Chowk, RN Sah Chowk, Panchmukhi Mandir, Polytechnic Chowk, Gulabbag etc where bandh supporters blocked the road by burning tyres.
People are facing problems due to the closure of private bus services in Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi. Buses are standing at Kanta Toli bus stand and operations are completely stalled. From the morning itself, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) workers came out on the streets to enforce the bandh. The movement of vehicles has been completely affected. Long distance vehicles did not start from Giridih bus stand. Due to this, passengers had to return. NH/33 Ranchi-Patna main road has been blocked. Protesters are protesting by lying down on the road.
In view of Bharat Bandh today in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur, shops are closed in MI Road area. Police has conducted a flag march. In Ajmer, Rajasthan, the Aarakshan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has called for a Bharat Bandh in protest against the Supreme Court’s decision on SC/ST reservation and to demand its withdrawal.
Government and non-government schools and colleges in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur district are closed. Internet services are also closed. Apart from this, coaching institutes, Anganwadis and libraries will also remain closed today. But it will be necessary for government teachers and personnel to be present in the institute. In view of the Bharat Bandh announcement, Additional District Collector Jagdish Arya has issued orders.
